Butterflies Nursery

Most children join the Nursery class at the start of the school year in which they have their fourth birthday. All children will be offered 15 hours free provision and some parents will qualify for a further 15 hours childcare, known as 30 hours funding. For more information and to find out if you are eligible visit www.childcarechoices.gov.uk. If you wish to 'top up' your 15 hour funded place, we can facilitate this if there are sessions available. The school manages all applications to Nursery on a 'first come' basis.

Our nursery provides a nurturing and inspiring environment where children feel confident, supported, and excited to learn. We are deeply committed to ensuring a seamless and cohesive transition from nursery into the rest of the school, helping every child feel prepared, settled, and ready for the next stage of their learning journey.

Nursery children benefit from shared routines, aligned teaching approaches, and close communication between early years staff, giving them a strong sense of continuity as they progress through the school. By understanding each child’s interests, strengths, and next steps, our team ensures that every transition feels natural, familiar, and tailored to their individual needs.

Alongside our rich curriculum, nursery children also enjoy weekly sports sessions delivered in partnership with Stevenage Football Club. These sessions promote physical development, teamwork, confidence, and a love of being active—all within a fun, age‑appropriate environment led by experienced coaches. This exciting enrichment opportunity builds physical skills, core muscles and helps children develop healthy habits that support their learning and wellbeing throughout school.

For families, this means reassurance that your child is not only thriving in a caring nursery setting, but is also part of a connected, forward‑thinking school that offers high‑quality experiences and a smooth transition from one stage to the next.

If your application for 30 hour funding is approved, you’ll get an 11-digit code that proves you’re eligible to get free childcare. You will need to send this code via email to admin@campshill.herts.sch.uk. Once eligible, parents will be sent a renewal invite from HMRC every 3 months to check if they are still eligible. Please note: If parents do not reconfirm their eligibility the 11-digit code will expire.
