Writing
Intent:
At Camps Hill, our intent is to develop imaginative, competent and confident writers who can express themselves with clarity, creativity and purpose. We believe that high‑quality writing begins with strong foundations, so our curriculum is carefully designed to build pupils’ knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, spelling and handwriting progressively across the school. These essential skills give children the tools they need to craft effective, accurate and meaningful written work.
We provide all pupils with rich opportunities to explore a wide range of high‑quality texts and exemplary writing models that inspire and motivate them. Through purposeful, well‑structured teaching, children learn to plan, draft, edit and refine their writing, developing independence and ownership over their work.
We aim for every child to leave Camps Hill as a confident, capable writer who can communicate effectively in different contexts and for a range of audiences. By nurturing creativity while strengthening key writing skills, we prepare pupils for the demands of secondary education and equip them with the lifelong ability to express their ideas in writing.
